Chapter 29: 29.

On their way to Binhu, Xiao Wei called and gave him the details of the apartment buildings he owned. Everything was in order and within the laws of the province. Xiao Wei gave his honest opinions and Chen Kai approved of them without a second thought. Putting the new apartments under the care of his company, he can earn the extra fees since it will be optional for tenants who are living in a family unit.

Knowing that the apartments were fine, Chen Kai did his own selling of his property. He wasn't saying words to make a profit from his friends, it would give him peace of mind that they were safe. Also, thanks to Su Lian's explanation of their upcoming jobs it was easier to commute. There was an inkling of an idea to purchase low-key cars for them but that will simply scare them.

An impulsive thought - yes- but he wanted to make their life easier and safer. They were all beauties, who's to say the scum of society won't be tempted to taint them.

"Have you been to Binhu District, Brother Chen?" Ye Jun asked. She caught on to his sales pitch and enthusiasm for them living in that area.

How can he deceive his friends?

"I haven't been to that area but two apartment buildings have been transferred to me. The buildings are the same as your agent suggested to you."

The car went silent. Chen Kai didn't add anything, he gave them time to digest it all. It was obvious they were still grasping the fact that the guy they've pampered for four years is now wealthy and wishes to repay them. If he was in their shoes and without the experience of being on top of the food chain, he too would be in a bewildered state.

When he drove onto the street that would enter the district, Lin Fa broke the silence.

"Are there discounts if we choose here?"

Chen Kai gave her the look of 'What do you think?' in the rearview mirror.

"There's never a relationship between people when money is involved," Su Lian commented with a smile.

"Exactly. The most I will give you based on our friendship is permission to redecorate the apartment if it's not to your liking. I will pay for everything. How about that?"

"Deal!" The answer came not a second too late and in a melodious unison. How can he not smile at their adorable reply?!

"Good."

Binhu Residential District is a mixture of the old and the new. Each street depicts this contrast and brings out a surreal feeling. The apartments were located in the mid to high-range area. Most tenants who live there are either managers of successful companies, officials, successful entrepreneurs, or even individuals who have a steady income for this type of living.

Standing ten floors up, with traditional exterior and modern interior design, strict security, and all updated utilities and appliances, this building was a treasure for new college graduates. For the girls to afford deposits for two apartments, their parents probably helped which is nothing to be ashamed of.

The buildings stood side by side of each other, separated by a pathway of local flora. The entire compound was picturesque. It was neatly isolated from other buildings to keep the well-maintained garden secure. There was a wide private parking lot attached to the property via a security gate and the entrance was manned by hired security.

Not taking advantage of his status as owner, Chen Kai parked opposite the building, garnering the attention of passersby.

Who would be so brave to park such an expensive car on the side of the road?

Their thoughts were paused a moment later when four young ladies left the confines of the car. It was accurate to say that each beauty attracted unique tastes. From scholarly beauty to playful fairy.

The girls stood on the sidewalk and patiently waited on Chen Kai. The few men who were bold to say a few words to them were politely rejected. Su Lian didn't give them face and outrightly denied their actions.

When Chen Kai came onto the sidewalk amidst a last-minute call, he saw the flies around her. His possessiveness was ignited. Whether it was the old soul's affection for the eccentric beauty or the present soul's attraction, Su Lian was naturally his.

It's just that the two have yet to start the relationship they paused for four years.

Talking to Xiao Wei on the phone, Chen Kai gave the man beside Su Lian a direct look, silently telling him to back off.

Su Lian cooperated with Chen Kai and moved to his side. The gentle smile came to his face naturally when her body brushed against his. Taking her hand in his, he felt her shocked reaction when he did. The two didn't make eye contact. They simply led the group to cross the street to the awaiting sales agent, ignoring the man behind them.

The image of a young handsome fella leading four beauties to the well-known apartment building sparked lots of murmurs from the people around. It's human nature to speculate.

"Hello. I'm Da Mei. We spoke on the phone not too long ago."

When they reached the sales agent's side, Da Mei took the lead in handling the talks. She introduced everyone to the woman and stated their willingness for the apartments.

The agent glanced at Chen Kai who was still on the phone then turned her eyes to the hand holding Su Lian's. Being in the industry for years she can spot the difference in status by one look. From the moment she spotted the Lamborghini and Chen Kai's envious appearance, she knew he was someone of great importance. To say which affluent family he was from or if he was an entertainment star - she couldn't. She can only pinpoint his riches.

"Welcome. The two apartments are on the same floor. It was previously rented by a company for transfer employees. Now that their work contract is over, it's now available. In addition to that good news, I must inform you that there is a new owner. His people contacted the office to state that there would be no changes at the moment. They vaguely mentioned that a few services will be offered to the tenants in the near future."

"Oh! That's very good," Da Mei commented. She kept a serene smile on her face but her eyes were filled with amusement. Ye Jun and Lin Fa glanced at Chen Kai to see his reaction. Su Lian had a proud smile on her face but they knew it wasn't because of the sales agent's words.

"It is. Let's do the tour then the official signing." It was clear that she was excited for this contract. Each new client has an additional commission to her paycheck.

The group followed her in, admiring the state of the surroundings and silently assimilating themselves to their new home.

The sixth floor was their destination. The lobby of the building was wide and had remote surveillance, even in the elevator. Chen Kai nodded in approval when he took note of this.

As the sales agent spoke, Su Lian placed her attention on him. Feeling her gaze, he turned to her and quietly put an end to the call.

She didn't say much. She simply propped her chin on his shoulder and spoke to him through her quiet gaze. Maybe it's their natural affinity for each other or the pure attraction but he understood her silent words. They moved around each other like an old couple married for years.

It was weird but felt right.

He chuckled and placed a soft kiss on her head. "It's about time, don't you think?" he said softly.

Su Lian was lost in the gentle and doting gaze Chen Kai trapped her in. It was funny. With a simple hold of her hand, this man claimed her indefinitely. Was their four years of friendship a prelude to this new relationship? There was no awkwardness or doubt. It was pure in many ways.

"It's about time," she repeated firmly.

"Good. Now I can spoil you." He wasn't shy. He wrapped his body around hers and lightly tickled her waist. Her laugh filled the elevator.

"Ugh! They've started!" "Save it till later you two." "Ah! Love at its finest."

The girls looked at the two and playfully admonished them. It was cute seeing the two like this. It was stressful seeing them walk around each other.

The sales agent's face was red at the moment, she couldn't believe that the couple was so bold in showing affection. When they reached the sixth floor, she hurriedly left the elevator and went to the first apartment.
