Chapter 14: Eye Of The Storm!

Chapter 14: Eye Of The Storm!

Jason followed the light alongside the people following behind him, they were scared but there was a problem. Jason looked back to see that not everyone was following him.

Lillian was frozen in place, she couldn't move, she was frozen in place and here was the problem. The fact that they couldn't make a single sound told them that there was only so much they could do.

Jason had already moved a couple of steps so it was hard to turn back now, but Rachel was there with her sister.

He knew that there was no way that she would leave Lillian and this was good.

Rachel grabbed her sister's hand and looked her right in the eyes, she took a deep breath and took a step forward. She was showing Lillian how easy it was but Lillian wasn't buying it.

Rachel was scared because she knew she couldn't leave her sister and she also knew she wouldn't want to leave herself if anything did happen to Lillian.

Bella was the closest to them but she had no intentions of going back and continued to advance towards the building that the laser pointed at.

Jason couldn't blame her, she didn't know them well enough to risk her life as she walked past him expecting Jason to follow behind her.

Jason, however, began to walk back slowly, this was a big risk because things could go south real quick but this was one thing he had to do because he wouldn't be able to live with himself if something happened to them. Jason was a shut-in but this didn't mean he was cold-hearted.

Rachel was surprised by this act, Lillian was sweating profusely and this was bad because according to Bella, the zombies reacted to smell as well.

Jason didn't know what kind of smell but he understood that human sweat could potentially be a trigger and he wasn't about to risk it.

Jason walked right in front of her and the first thing he did was gesture for Rachel to leave her hand as he crouched down to her height, Lillian was incredibly small compared to Jason's size.

He looked her right in the eyes and smiled, Jason had a gorgeous smile but this didn't matter in the face of fear.

The zombies were a good distance away, Jason was surprised that she was so scared because she handled herself well in their earlier encounter but that was different from here.

"Zombies, am I right?" Jason said in a hushed tone and Lillian looked even more scared as she darted her head in the opposite direction to see if the zombies had heard him.

"You see? Just follow my lead and you will be fine... I swear it or are you a chicken..." Jason said, pausing momentarily.

"...Dipshit." Jason was teasing her and this seemed to do the trick.

Lillian controlled her breathing before moving her feet forward, Rachel realized that Jason connected with her in a way she couldn't but she was growing increasingly worried because it was uncomfortable that someone had this much influence over her sister.

The sisters followed after Jason and they made it into the building with little to no difficulty but the building was desolate, there was no one anywhere.

There was no military presence either even though there were bullet shells scattered across the ground.

Bella was waiting for them there but she wasn't idle, she made sure the place was in pristine condition before they came as this would make her going forward acceptable somewhat.

She had sealed the windows, blocking it and found something to block the door with the moment they entered. She could have easily locked them outside but she didn't and that said something.

Rachel didn't take this personally because she understood where Bella was coming from but she did appreciate the fact that Bella didn't lock them out even though that would have been the best possible choice.

"What next?" Rachel asked as Lillian heaved a loud sigh of relief as she looked up at Jason but he wasn't paying her any attention. Jason was worried about why someone was helping them, there must be an ulterior motive for someone to render help to a bunch of strangers.

And the bullet casings showed that there was a battle here, but why weren't there any infected?

Jason wanted to explore more of the building, but he felt a slight nudge.

"T-The walls..." Lillian muttered and Jason looked in the direction of where Lillian pointed. New novel chaptš¯’†rs are published on novel(b)in(.)com

"THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!" A message was written in blood right on the wall, and they soon heard growling in the other rooms.

But these growling got closer and closer, Jason knew trusting a stranger was stupid and he was about to regret it as a zombie soon appeared.

It was dressed in military protective gear showing that this was a former soldier. Jason knew he could not harm the head because it had on a full helmet.

The helmet was to protect from bullets and ironically, it was going to protect the zombie from blunt force trauma.

"Give me the hammer and stand behind me!" Jason instructed them, he was slowly assuming the role of protector. Rachel had no problems doing as he commanded because it was him putting his life in danger.

They all remained quiet, the zombie(s) must have heard them talk earlier as they mistook this building for a safe zone. Jason wanted to know what a nesting zone was and Chronos had no problems telling him.

[Nesting Zone: A Nesting Zone Is Where Zombies Gather, This Is The Genesis Of A Horde!]

Chronos informed Jason, prompting the young man to gulp as the zombie came into the room with five more following soon after.

Jason knew what hordes were capable of, they could run down an entire village as it just proved that even the military wasn't enough.

"Can I even survive this?" Jason thought to himself and Chronos took it upon itself to answer.

[Ding!]

[Survival Possibility: 70%]

"Well, that's a fucking relief..." Jason muttered as the zombies swarmed in.
