Chapter 23: I will live for Young Master!

"Excuse me, Young master."

"Hmm."

In response to Lara's meek arrival, her young master just hummed before the brunette maid walked inside without making any kind of noise.

What greeted inside were piles of books and folders arranged over the main desk. There was a peculiar smell of some peculiar elixirs as well blended in the room which Lara was aware of.

Soon enough she spotted eight empty flasks which must have carried vitality and regenerative potions, thrown inside the dustbin.

Lara frowned since there didn't seem any reason for her master to take so many potions but soon her doubt was cleared as she approached him from the left and saw what he was doing.

'Re-evaluation Test.'

The heading was enough to make her realize that her young master had such a weighing job to accomplish. The retest which every scholar of the first year has to take in order to remain in the academy.

The written test paper was to be prepared by Young Master Seth. That was why only Lara was ordered to be allowed to enter the office for tonight since this matter was rather confidential.

'I am trusted by my master~.'

Thanks to the fact that her master was utterly concentrated on his work, he didn't get to see her unsightly fidgeting like a maiden. But what could she do, when her master showers her with so much love?

Collecting herself, Lara poured down the coffee into the cup neatly without letting a single drop spill before she put it on the tray. Picking up the cutlery she brought it to that table and placed it in a space that was slightly distant from the young master's reach.

After hearing the slight clinking sound when Lara put the tray, Seth got out of his spree and looked at the maid.

She was beautiful as ever but the action she tried in the morning made Seth's expression severe.

Was it her instincts or not, Lara at that moment knew why her master seemed displeased. She instantly bowed and spoke in a slightly higher pitch.

"I am utterly apologetic for what I did, young master. Please forgive me!"

The room went silent after that as Lara kept her head leaning forward and eyes closed in anticipation.

In response, Seth just got up from his chair after who knows how long before he took the coffee from the tray.

Walking to the window which provides the view of a beautiful garden showered with a hazy night sky, Seth spoke after taking the first sip of bitter yet refreshing coffee.

"What comes before your duty to serve me, Lara?"

Lara blinked in astonishment at such an unexpected query but soon she registered his words, her eyes narrowed as she answered in a determined tone.

"My first and foremost priority lies in serving young master Seth. It would never be overtaken by anything, I have sworn on my name."

Seth took another long sip as he heard the passionate words of his maid. Seriously, he still couldn't understand why she was so devoted toward him but well…

"So ny killing yourself, weren't you trying to escape your duty?"

"!!!"

Lara instantly shot her head with the motive to rebuke her Young master even if it would sound disrespectful. But soon she realized, that his words despite being blunt were the inevitable truth.

She could only bite her lip in frustration at how impulsively she acted in the morning.

After a small pause and just when his cup emptied, Lara's weak yet confident tone reached up to Seth.

"...I will do my best to live from now on, so I can serve my master until the very end."

Looking at the paper where I have written more than three hundred questions through my research while maintaining uniqueness, I sighed in fatigue.

It was past midnight and I have been working for fucking more than eight hours nonstop, since tomorrow was the day when I have to submit this Re-evaluation test paper.

I wasn't asked to prepare any certain amount of questions but to maintain my image I had to write at least five hundred for the scholars like the Hero to solve.

Thanks to the naturally sharp mind I was bestowed with this body, I was also learning through this tiring work. So it's kinda advantageous for me as well.

In the original story, after sleeping with Serena twice before the exams—once that night when she lost her virginity and once in the Council Office— Seth didn't make any more trouble for the hero.

But in the meantime of vacation, Serena kills herself because of self-loathing and how brutally she betrayed her friend.

After that, the demise of Seth begins and near graduation, Seth gets killed dog's death in front of the whole school.

'I didn't sleep with Serena but there's a chance of confrontation… '

I might face Arata at times of graduation due to the butterfly effect so I have decided to utilize my vacation for training and stuff.

But for now…
