Chapter 30: Forged in battle

*walking sound was followed by a faint river sound*

"The sun has set at the horizon; yes, we were walking at that time. Almost an entire day." Ben walked lazily, thinking that the barrier to his patience was about to be removed.

"Aaaa...miss, do you have any idea when we're going to reach the forest?" He asked, closing his distance from the silver-haired girl. In response, the other person just gave him an annoyed look.

"Hehehe... Just curious; sorry about that." Ben said he had an embarrassed smile on his face. Honestly, it wasn't the distance that made him bored; it was the awkward silence between them that was itching him the wrong way. He did try to have a conversation, but he was either ignored or responded with an annoyed look.

"We are surrounded." The silver-haired girl suddenly stopped in her tracks, holding her sword in both hands and gripping it tightly.

Alerted by her actions, Ben swiftly activated the passive skill, Blood Vision, allowing him to detect seven faint energies hiding within the nearby bushes, surrounding the girl.

"Seven basic tier or lower monsters," Ben stated with a serious expression. The girl nodded, silently acknowledging her awareness of the threat.

"There are seven basic tear or lower monsters, around you," Ben said, with a serious expression on his face. While the girl slowly started to chant a spell.

"Inferno Stringer, maximum capacity"

-Blood Bullet-

Ben chanted without wasting any time, pointing his palm in a direction. In an instant, a fiery red aura materialized in front of his palm, about the size of a bullet, before it was engulfed in yellow flames, making it appear golden in colour.

"Bang"

With a shooting sound, the blood bullet left Ben's hand and hit the blurry figure, which was moving towards the girl. It all happened so fast that the silver-haired girl could only feel blood splatter on her clothes, followed by the sound of a lifeless body falling to the ground.

"Schreeekkkk"

A lot of screams sounded from the bushes. Seeing their comrade die and knowing that camouflage was no use, the goblins chose to face the battle head-on instead, stepping out of the bushes.

-Blood Bullet-

In a hurry, Ben chanted again, this time shooting two blood bullets from both hands. One found its mark, inflicting a burning wound on a goblin's chest, while the other missed its target.

"Shit, they are too much," Ben thought with a frown on his face as he leaped towards the goblins to face them head-on.

"Summon Beetles Chitin Dagger and Ancient Spear. Also, infuse the Inferno stringer with an Ancient spear." Ben commanded, ready to be involved in a fight. Even if the enemies weren't strong, the sheer number of them may pose a threat.

*Deep Inhale*

-Basic Magic: Wind Blade

-

Before Ben could get involved in the battle, the silver-haired girl swung her sword in the air, and translucent waves of wind blades hit two of the goblins midway.

The goblins were humanoid-looking creatures, green in color, and about 4 feet tall. From afar, they might look fragile and malnourished, but their tough skin, high IQ, and persistence are what makes them one of the most vital enemies for newbie adventurers.

The goblin was hit by the wind blade, but the wound wasn't deep enough to cause any critical damage. Before she knew it, she felt a sharp pain in his left leg, making her kneel on the ground. The wooden sword in her hand dropped as she saw a goblin from the front, in the air, jumping towards her.

The silver-haired girl froze for a moment. Looking at the goblin's face—the wide smile, the menacing gaze—she tried to move, but her body was just not responding. She could just see the goblin's claw moving toward her face.

At the moment she almost accepted her fate, a sharp wind passed next to her ear, and the next instant she could see a flaming spear pierce through the goblin's chest in mid-air.

Just as the spear pierced through the goblin, Ben, without thinking twice, grabbed the spear's other end tightly and swung the spear along with the goblin to the other side, hitting the other goblin coming towards him.

" That's right. I have been feeling this for a while now." Ben thought as he swung his body to make a round kick toward a goblin's leg. Bending it at an unnatural angle up until the moment of contact.

"This is much stronger than the body in my past life. As if I can easily do the moves from those Marshhelarts movies, if not better." Ben thought, a sharp smile on his face, as he lept towards the fallen goblin and hit its head with his Beetle's Chitin Dagger.

Without wasting any seconds, Ben instantly backflipped from the ground, avoiding a claw attack, as he pointed his palm towards another goblin.

-Blood Bullet-

Ben cast another bullet, directly hitting the goblin in the skull and ending its life. A kill notification sounded on his status screen. One from the burning effect of the Ancient Spear.

[HP: 80/100]

The silver-haired girl, still kneeling on the ground, could just see a killing machine in action, devouring it's does without a tinge of hesitation.

Ben picked up his ancient spear again and stabbed it through a goblin's throat while casting two more blood bullet skills to end one more goblin's life.

Ben Un-summoned his weapons to his inventory as he walked toward the silver-haired girl on the ground.

"Shrek!" The last goblin screamed as it jumped towards Ben, targeting his head. Ben, on the other hand, just casually lifted his hand as he grabbed the goblin's head in mid-air, his palms tightly gripping its forehead.

"Know your place, fool," Ben muttered coldly, glaring at the goblin who was struggling out of his grip in mid-air.

-Blood Bullet-

Ben chanted, and with a blasting sound, a splash of blood rose from the goblin's blackhead as its struggle stopped, and its body went lifeless.

[A/N: Ahem ...Ahem, as you might have noticed, I kinda tried a new thing in the story, writing two different POVs in one chapter. So let me know your honest opinion if you have any problem with the POV change or anything. Hope you enjoyed reading <3 ]
