Chapter 20: Yggdrasil XVIII

Chapter 20: Yggdrasil XVIII

[You have killed 4 level 100 Human Players.]

[The effects of "Advancement Amulet" and "Ring of Ascension" have been applied. 0EXP -> 0EXP]

[Nearby players will receive your location broadcast for an hour.]

[You received the "Scepter of Destruction", ..., and "Fortitude Vest."]

Even though I was able to kill 4 Players, there were still 3 Players remaining. My spell managed to damage them but failed to kill them.

Noticing them, Ulbert also used a spell to kill them before they could attack.

Ulbert: "*Maximize Boost Magic: Meteor Fall*."

A 10th-tier spell that calls forth a colossal meteor from the sky. As it landed on the group, they were pulverized by the explosion and died.

Punitto: "Let's go, guys. Momonga, switch to your Vampire variant, Touch Me; enter the castle with Momonga. Buku, take the lead and tank any damage. Ulbert, Pero, and Temper; provide them support. Nishikienrai, go invisible, hide in the shadows, and wait for my command."

Punitto Moe was an excellent strategist, to say the least. We all took our positions and entered the castle. Because we were infiltrating a guild base, we needed to be on guard against any traps.

Bukubukuchagama had a tank-oriented build and could absorb damage like a sponge.

Punitto: "Beware of the traps, guys. According to the information from the information guild, the first two floors should be riddled with traps. Ancient One, check for any traps and disarm them."

Ancient One used *Maximize Widen Magic: Detect Traps*, a 5th-tier spell capable of detecting traps in the user's vicinity.

But, it wasn't perfect; if the Player who set up the traps was a high-level Player and had some specific job classes, they could make traps that were not discernable by magic.

Other Players who had job classes for infiltration could discern these traps. But sadly, our clan didn't have someone with those job classes.

As he used that spell- multiple tiles on the floor, portions of walls, some windows, and a few doors lit up.

He then used another spell to disarm these traps.

Ancient One: '*Maximize Widen Magic: Disarm Traps*'

Another 5th-tier spell; capable of disarming detected traps.

We kept progressing in the hallway. Being a small guild, a lack of funds prevented the creation of powerful NPCs. And weak NPCs weren't that effective against level 100 Players.

We kept progressing through the first two floors. During this, we activated some traps, but Bukubukuchagama was able to tank all the damage.

The castle had 4 floors in total. According to Punitto Moe's information, the guild weapon should be on the top floor.

Once we reached the third floor, we met our first NPC. It was a human male with wizard robes and a sceptre in his right hand.

Punitto: "Touch, you are on. Ulbert, support him from the back."

Touch Me lunged at the NPC, but the NPC evaded his attack with teleportation magic. The sole reason we managed to eliminate those Players at the entrance with two spells; was because; of the element of surprise.

Typically, it would take 40 minutes to reach their guild from the mines. It took us 10 minutes to set up traps in the mines, and then we left them. We used; cash shop items to increase our agility for a short while and reached the guild base in 20 minutes.

The Players at the entrance didn't suspect us using items to increase our speed. Because of this, they had a false sense of security, evident by the fact; when we reached the guild, they were setting up traps at the entrance.

But now, the situation was different; they were ready and sent in a level 100 NPC to counter and hinder us.

Touch Me used one of his skills to instantly teleport near the NPC and swung his sword toward the NPC. Updated from nov𝒆lbIn.(c)om

The NPC failed to react and Touch Me's sword slashed his body. Both kept fighting for a minute.

But, in the end, Touch Me was able to defeat it.

Punitto: "Good job. Come on, we don't have time to waste."

The reason why Punitto Moe sent only Touch Me to fight the NPC was that; he didn't want to expose the ability of the vanguard. The Human Players were able to watch our fight through Guild Functions.

According to Punitto Moe, 'We should keep our cards hidden.'

We kept ascending the floor. During this, we encountered 2 more NPC and 2 Players, but Touch Me was able to make quick work of them.

Momonga: 'The real battle will start when we ascend to the top floor.'

It took us 45 minutes to reach the top floor. Currently, we were standing in front of a massive throne room.

Punitto: "Prepare yourself, guys. This is the final room. Momonga, take the lead this time, Ulbert and Pero, support him."

I went and stood before the door. I took out my new sword.

It had a golden blade and hilt. Its name was Clarent, a divine-class item. It was my pride and joy.

It had many abilities ranging from; buffing my states, negating the enemy's defences, ability to morph into other weapons, etc.

It took me months to collect materials and data crystals to craft it.

I took an attacking stance.

Momonga: "Ulbert, blow the door away."

Ulbert: "Sure! Boost Maximize Magic: Greater Explosion!"

A massive explosion occurred at the door, destroying it. Without waiting for the smoke to clear, I rushed inside the room. I was wearing the World Champion class armour; that I requested from the devs.

Even though I lost the title and the job class, I still had it.

As soon as I entered the room, I saw 16 Players, all ready to attack me. Without thinking twice, I activated one of the skills of the 'Weapon God' job class.

Momonga: "Absolute Defence!"

An invisible barrier formed around me, capable of deflecting any damage for the next 2 seconds. All the different attacks of the Players landed on it, but none managed to break through it.

Without wasting time, I activated another skill of the 'Weapon Emperor' job class.

Momonga: "Node Slash!"

I disappeared from my location, reappeared behind one of the human Players and swung my sword. Without waiting, I disappeared again, reappeared behind another player, and did the same.

I kept phasing in and out of reality and attacking the human Players. The skill I was using allowed me to choose 15 nodes between which I could teleport to.

At first glance, it sounds like a powerful skill, but there are many drawbacks, like; it could only be activated for 15 seconds, while teleporting; I wouldn't be able to block any attack, and one single hit of damage will deactivate the skill.

There were only a few situations where this skill could be of use. It also had a cooldown of 30 minutes.

While I was attacking the Players, Touch Me; and Suratan entered the room and began attacking the human Players.

After the 15 seconds ended, I had already dealt considerable damage to the Human Players.

I used another skill of the 'Weapon Emperor' job class.

Momonga: "Weapon Storm!"

Once the 15 seconds ended, I appeared behind one of the Players. The skill I now used; unleashed a torrent of strikes in all directions, damaging all nearby Human Players.

This skill also had some drawbacks, like, each hit deals reduced damage but accumulates quickly.

Once the skill ended, I used an item to invoke *Greater Teleportation* and teleported away from the Players.

Momonga: 'I have already dealt a considerable amount of damage. But why aren't they dying.'

Shaking away these thoughts, I again rushed to the group of Players and chose 3 of them as my opponents.

I lunged at one of them and managed to catch him off guard. He was a rapier user; I swung my sword and slashed at his chest. My attack caused him to stagger back.

Once he regained his footing, 2 other Players also stood beside him.

???: "Why are you disgusting Heteromorphs attacking our guild!?"

The one with the Rapier spoke with venom in his tone.

Momonga: "Isn't it obvious? You took away our mine, so we decided to take away your whole guild. Fair trade, right?"

???: "We didn't take your mine! Your clan leader gave it to us fair and square!"

Momonga: "He is a simple man. You deceived him by lying. You should know; your actions have repercussions."

???: "Then what about your actions! Are you not afraid of repercussions?"

Momonga: "I'm not afraid of them. I'm doing this knowing full well that this may bite me in the ass in future. But I am willing to accept those repercussions. Unlike you, who is denying them? Now."

I took a stance to attack them.

Momonga: "Stop talking, and fight me!"

Without wasting time, I lunged toward them and used 'Blade Dance' to damage them.

???: "Don't underestimate us!"

He also went into action using various skills against me. Our battle continued for 4 minutes, but I still couldn't kill one of them.

Momonga: 'This is strange.'

I jumped back to avoid the attack of one of the Players. After landing, I looked around the room. None of the clan members had died yet.

But they, too, failed to kill one of the Human Players.

Momonga: 'Something is definitely up.'

I kept thinking about possibilities while dodging attacks. Then it hit me.

Momonga: 'A World Item?'

But they were a small guild; it was absurd that they had a World Item. I contacted Punitto Moe about my hypothesis.

Momonga: 'Punitto, I think they have a World Item. One geared toward either healing or boosting their states.'

Punitto: 'Yeah, I received the same hypothesis from Touch.'

Momonga: 'What should we do then? The others wouldn't be able to fight infinitely.'

Punitto: 'I have asked Ancient One and Nishikenrai to look for the World Item. If they fail to locate the World Item, we will resort to employing our own World Item. To fight fire with fire.'

Momonga: 'Agreed. Tell the others to save their trump cards and go into the defensive.'

Punitto: 'I have already told them.'

Momonga: 'Good. Tell me once the World Item is located.'

Punitto: 'Understood.'

As the connection ended, I barely evaded an attack from a Katana. I jumped back to make some distance between us.

???: "What's the matter, big guy. Are you afraid of us?"

I remained silent. If this guild had a World Item, defeating them would be hard without another World Item, even for me. I could kill them if I went all out, but that would only expose my skills to them.

They could later sell that information to an information guild.

Momonga: 'Guess I'll need to wait for them to find the World Item.'

Momonga: "Huh! Who's afraid of you. You trying to play tough is absolutely adorable."

I readied my sword and stopped talking.

???: "Is that so?"

Momonga: 'Guess she wouldn't be enraged by that. It was worth a try.'

All the clan members kept fighting the Human Players for the next 10 minutes.

Punitto: 'Momonga, they have found the World Item.'
