Chapter 23: Angel and james

The man's beards shook as he burst into laughter, he slammed his palms on Roland's shoulders and and continued laughing.

Roland pressed his lips together and took a small white cloth from his pocket and wiped off the saliva which was spilling from the man's mouth onto his face.

"I would appreciate it, if you could turn to a different direction" Roland said stiffly.

Marvin raised his brows and stopped laughing "but seriously, Noah can be a pain in the ass, so be careful out there."

Roland sat down "we would be leaving as soon as Amelia recovers, from the black Hawks mission, we have done two more, I'm tired, my soldiers needs rest."

"Well I'm sorry to break the news but there's still one more mission" Marvin chuckled softly, he slowly caressed his beards while watching Roland's face.

And as he thought.

Roland's eyes bulged and he clenched his fist with anger "we've been out there for a month!!, Where are the other companies and squads?!" He yelled.

"Calm down buddy, most of the companies has been sent to the front lines, the nightmares have been acting aggressively recently and we believe they would soon launch an attack" Marvin said while clearly putting emphasis on his last words.

Roland's brows knitted and he stared at Marvin "I'll only go when Amelia situation has been completely addressed, besides what mission is this"

Marvin walked around with his arms at his back, he would occasionally stop and then resume walking, his expression was constantly changing and Roland had gotten fed up, just when he was about to speak, Marvin spoke.

"We are to secure the mother chip at Ash point and take it to the strong hold"

"Another chip?" Roland questioned with raised brows.

"This mission doesn't seem from the government" Roland muttered with complex thoughts flashing through his eyes.

"You're right it's from Dream Corp" Marvin Chuckled dryly, he waited for a moment and it finally happened.

"What!!!!, Dream Corp!, the same organization which recently had a huge argument with the government, why would they allow them to give us missions?!!" Roland yelled.

"They have reconciled and dream Corp are promising an equal share of whatever resource the chip possesses" Marvin explained.

"Hmmm... Then what about the chip from peace- Corp?" Roland inquired softly.

"Well the chip you got is one of the daughter chips belonging to the mother chip at Ash point"

"Then that means Dream Corp is working with peace Corp huh!... This is interesting" Roland rubbed his chin with squinted eyes.

"Way more than that, from the information there's another organization joining them" Marvin's shocking words reverberated in Roland's ears, although organizations do ally together it was mostly the small ones, huge organizations like dream Corp and peace Corp would almost never ally on anything, they were always competing.

"What about the crawfords organization?" Roland inquired with rapt attention.

"They have been silent recently, I don't really know what's going on with them, but they've always been behind the government so there's nothing to worry about" Marvin shrugged.

"Wait what's the name of the organization you were talking about?" Roland inquired, from how Marvin said it, it seemed like a huge organization but there was no other huge organization in stronghold ten other than Peace Corp, Dream Corp and the Crawford organization.

"Oh... It's the Z organization" Marvin chortled.

"...Z organization.." Roland mumbled with squinted eyes.

"What's wrong" Marvin questioned while walking closer to Roland.

"Nothing!, You said we.... Does that mean"

"It does, my team will finally appear on the field... Ha!... It's been a long time, I missed the feeling" Marvin chortled.

Roland's brows furrowed deeply, though it did sound amazing to be accompanied by a mecha company, mechas were only allow to enter the field when the situation was at a tense level, so technically this mission was twice harder than all the missions he handled this month.

"Distance?" He asked with raised brows.

"Oh...umm... I think it's more than two thousand miles away" Marvin's eyes darted around before he finally came out with an answer.

"I understand" Roland refused to talk anymore, he stood up and left the room, the screen had been disconnected so he didn't even know Amelia's situation.

Thirty minutes later, the OR doors opened and a man with deep fatigued eyes walked out, this surgery had been the most exhausting one he had done since he began his career.

Before he could react, a beautiful girl with long white hair tied to a ponytail had arrived close to him, her face was so close to his that in just a single step he could meet her lips.

"How is she?" her calm melodious voice rang deeply, he couldn't understand, her actions didn't match her tone, she rushed towards him but asked with such a calm tone that somehow frightened him.

Her Ruby eyes scanned his entire facial expression, but as a surgeon who had done many operations he knew how to keep his face expressionless.

"Is she alright?" She questioned, this time her tone had some emotions mixed within.

"Umm... She is, she lost a lot of blood so we had to give her blood.

"Blood transfer.... Can I see her?" Angel inquired with a soft smile, she had grown up seeing many men coming to court her so she knew her way around them.

The surgeon was a young man so he couldn't resist her charms, he gulped and chuckled "Of course!"

"Thanks!" Angel said with her eyes flashing with unknown thoughts. Before the surgeon could react Angel was already gone, he looked at his watch which he just brought out, he wanted to get her number.

4 who was still seating laughed inwardly 'another one' he snickered.

Angel entered the room and saw the nurse, she smiled at her and walked towards Amelia whose face now had a slight rosy glow.

"How do you feel?" She inquired with a soft tone, different from her usual calm one.

Amelia's lashes fluttered and she opened her eyes and stared at her concerned best friend, a bright smile appeared on her face.

"I'm fine, I feel a lot better now"

Angel looked at her tummy, since the males had left the nurse was in the process of dressing Amelia so she was quite half naked.

Her smooth toned tummy had no single mark, it was like she was never wounded and an operation never occurred.

"You made everyone worried, I clearly stated that you should be more careful but you di... I'm sorry, I never meant to raise my voice" Angel apologized to Amelia.

"It's my fault, I didn't listen to you, I'm sorry" Amelia also apologized.

The nurse who was watching them smiled, if she didn't know them, she would have thought they were sisters, their friendship was really close, even closer than the relationship between some siblings.

"Okay you two would continue later, she needs to rest for now" the nurse said reluctantly.

Angel nodded, she gently embraced Amelia and left the room while Amelia was taken to a different room.

When Angel came out of the hospital, she saw James staring at her with complex thoughts.

She frowned and moved towards him "what's the problem?"

"The problem is that you never told me the guy back at stronghold eleven was Derek, I mean he was my friend, why would you hide it from me?!" James questioned with a 'sad', disappointed tone.

"I didn't hide anything, I just didn't want to talk about it" Angel muttered.

"Why!... Wait, don't tell me!... He almost killed two of our friends, he's dangerous! How could you still have feelings for such a guy, didn't you see how he was, he's no longer human" James scowled with a red face.

"Don't say that! He's just having problems bearing the fact that he lost his entire family in a day!" Angel explained.

"He isn't the only one without a family, there are thousands without them, what makes him so different if he wants everyone to know he lost his family why doesn't he just air it and if he loves his family that much, he should join them!!" James shouted with bulging eyes.

Those words pierced Angel's heart deeply.

"How could you say that!!" Angel yelled.

"You don't have the right to judge him James, and don't come close to me or you will regret it" she threatened with her red eyes flashing with a murderous glint which disappeared in the next moment.

James came back to his senses when he saw Angel walking away, his eyes widened and he darted towards her.

He fell to the ground while holding his bleeding nose, he raised his head and stared at Angel with shock, her gaze had completely changed, it was no longer that warm happy look, it was an icy cold gaze, her red eyes shone in the mild darkness as she repeated.

"Don't ever come close to me, and no one especially not you, have the right to judge Derek not after what you made me do to him..... You caused him to hate me but I endured it, now here you are again spouting rubbish as you always do, you don't know how deep you've hurt me!!" She screamed with Misty eyes and trembling fists, she turned and walked away.

James couldn't believe what just happened, he never knew behind that calm mask Angel always wore there was a girl who was this deeply hurt by his actions.

He crawled out of the road and leaned on the walls of a building, he gazed at the emotionless dark sky and memories resurfaced.

Both him and few of Angel's cousins were the ones who caused their separation and they made her do it in such a painful way promising that it was the only way to make Derek forget her, for him at that moment, Derek wasn't worth anything, he never imagined such a situation would happen years later.

He remembered watching Derek walk away trembling in humiliation and tears as they mockingly laughed, Angel wanted to go after him but they stopped her.

The then naive Angel didn't know what her actions would spark neither did she understand what she did.

"Derek Hart..." James muttered deeply while he stared at the gloomy sky.
