Chapter 27: Exam Part 1

After Sky accepted being in the family Kaden couldn't help but have a wide grin on his face and so did Sky. In fact, she was the one that spoke first, "So what does- AGH!"

After not even saying 5 words Sky doubled over in pain and was clutching her left shoulder, "Are you alright?!" Ken and Timmy were the first to run over and check on Sky after Kaden did, wondering what was going on.

'Oh no! I forgot about the pain with the tattoo!' Kaden said getting angry at himself as he held Sky. Kaden decided not to answer Ken's question as he thought it might tell them he was the cause of her pain which would bring more questions, so he only held Sky close as the pain began fading away obvious by her lessened yelps.

"Are you sure? Let me help for now." Kaden said holding her by her shoulders as she sat up.

"Thank you." She replied with a smile.

"What happened to her?" A voice asked behind Kaden making him spin around to see Mr. Wright watching the scene with interest.

"It was nothing much. It seems something with my class activated and I even ranked up!" Sky answered happily showing him her class screen which Kaden was also interested to see.

This is the screen that was shown to Mr. Wright which made his face visibly change, "What you ranked up already?! That's amazing! We knew that your potential was already high as is, but this is just something else. I will be expecting a lot from you now. Well done." Mr. Wright with excitement before walking away and he then began to talk to someone on the phone.

'Huh, she ranked up already? I thought she would only rank up if she was below me by more than a rank?' Kaden thought confused before opening up his own class screen.

'WHAT! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!' Kaden screamed inwardly at the screen in front of him. He then remembered that his rank would increase with the more people he added to his family.

'Am I going to rank up this easily the entire time?' Kaden questioned inside his mind wondering if her could possibly reach the highest rank within a year or two based on his current progress and how fast he was ranking up. He soon denied this however since he remembered that the higher rank he got the harder it would be to rank up and the more people he would need in his family.

After being in his own head for a moment Kaden turned back towards Sky who was currently finishing up being checked by the others in the group though Emma seemingly wanted nothing to do with helping her which made Kaden sigh.

"You could have warned me about that meanie!" Sky said whispering to Kaden as she walked over connecting their arms again which made him smile.

"Sorry about that. I forgot that part of the process." Kaden said laughing awkwardly.

"It's fine it only hurt for a moment, but I want compensation at some point~" She said seductively looking at him with crazy eyes.

This was the first time he had seen such a reaction from her a didn't know how to react so he just ignored it, "Did you look at your shoulder yet." Kaden said which made Sky laugh at his obvious dodging of what he said before.

'Cute~' She said in her mind.

However, she then realized what Kaden said and looked at her shoulder and saw the Aces tattoo that Kaden also had on his right shoulder. Hers was the same as his except instead of it being the ace of spades she had Q on the tattoo representing the queen card of a card deck.

"When did this get here?" She asked Kaden confused.

"This is part of joining my family. I also have one of these." He said pulling his shirt down just enough so she could see his tattoo on his shoulder.

"Woah! That was the pain I felt earlier then? Does that also mean my rank up and potential upgrade was from you?" She said in astonishment.

Kaden then nodded his head, "Yes that's one of my abilities and I wanted you to be a part of it." He said with a smile which also made her blush slightly.

"Hey if you say it like that you will make me feel all weird~" She said turning her face away from him which was a new reaction.

'Cute!' Kaden said in his mind.

"Thank you." She said suddenly and before Kaden could respond it seemed Mr. Wright finished with his call.

"Time for the exam to begin! The first three teams are you, you, and you! Now please follow these instructors to your designated areas."

After being interrupted by Mr. Wright three other teachers joined the field and began taking those that were first in the exam to their locations in the forest and it turns out Kaden's group was one of those three. In fact, while the three groups began walking in their own directions Kaden took a moment to look at the other teams but then realized he had no idea who any of them are or their abilities.

'Well this might be a little more difficult.' Kaden thought to himself.

Once they arrived at their destination the teacher that escorted Kaden's group began to explain the situation, "Now we are here let me explain how the exam will work. Each group will as said before be competing against each other to see who can kill the most beasts. All use of powers are allowed and you can also fight against the opposing teams. The barrier that surrounds this forest will keep you safe from harm and if you were to take enough damage to die you will immediately appear out here due to these suits I'm about to give you. If a student is indeed 'dead' then they will be out for the rest of the exam. Does this make sense?"

"Yes sir!" All of them replied excitedly.

The teacher then gave each of us a strange thin full-body suit that was silver in color and uncomfortably tight, but we were allowed to wear it under our school uniform, so it wasn't too bad.

'I wonder if I can make some of the beast we kill in here a part of the family.' Kaden thought to himself excited that he may be able to add more power to his family.

"Now that you're all suited up let me be the first to wish you luck in there. There will be danger everywhere so make sure to be prepared. That's all the advice I will give you so please enter the forest now and let the exam begin!" The teacher said enthusiastically.
