Chapter 15: Chapter 15 – Knight’s Journey Program [2]

"First of all, thank you for coming on such short notice. Let me explain what this program is for."

Mr. Taka started and operated his smartwatch, changing the screen hovering on the table. The blue screen showed an image with an explanation on the side.

"The program, we called it Speedrun Hell! Three Veterans with Three Newbies! Not the best name, I know. But it gives context and makes the viewers curious. Hahaha. That's what's important in this business."

Max laughed together with Mr. Taka. He agreed that the name sounded so... cliché and bad, but he also agreed that it gave enough context while invoking the viewers' curiosity.

'I can think of a better name, but I should just agree with him.'

The negotiation had started, and Max knew Mr. Taka wanted to see his reaction to the title and the program. For now, he should just listen and not interrupt him until the explanation was finished.

"The program is simple. We have already invited three veteran streamers who have proved their skills and are in the top 10 of Knight's Journey speedrun." Mr. Taka started. He pushed his glasses up and had a serious expression.

"Unlike the normal story, the speedrun only includes defeating a barbarian army and taking over a fort. There are many speedruns categories, but we chose the hardest and the one that took the shortest time. Currently, the duo's world record is 48 minutes 32 seconds. Ah, you just played, right? Do you understand what I talked about?"

"I understand, Mr. Taka. Indeed, I just played a game yesterday, but I have watched many streamers before." Max scratched his cheek and smiled sheepishly. "Hahaha, I only managed to save enough money to buy one."

"And yet you played wonderfully." Mr. Taka praised with an honest smile.

"Because you understand, let's skip this and go to the main issue. We don't hope to create a new world record, but we want to show how exciting Knight's Journey is. This is why we planned this program. As a player, I believe you see the charm of the game, right?"

"Indeed. It's a good game, and I enjoyed playing it so far. The realism of the game is captivating me."

"Right?! That's what we want to show the viewers!" Mr. Take exclaimed excitedly. "So, Mr. Breeze. As I already explained the goal of our program, let's talk about the contract. As the representative of Biozone Entertainment's Marketing Team, I invite you to join this program."

After saying so, Mr. Taka swiped his hand, and the screen changed once again. This time, it showed a white background with text and the word 'Contract' written boldly on the top.

The screen moved closer to Max as Mr. Taka controlled its movement with his hand.

"Please read the contract first. Of course, you can't say this to anyone else. I also didn't mention the other streamer's name in the contract until the announcement to keep this confidential." The sourc𝗲 of this content nov(𝒆l)bi((n))

Max nodded at Mr. Taka and carefully read the contract.

What was written was what he could do and couldn't. It was pretty simple, seeing it was only a contract for a one-time appearance instead of a long-term contract with the company.

'I will be given a $1,500 minimum guarantee for my appearance and a free game released by Biozone Entertainment. Bonus will be given if the target of 1 Million total peak viewers in Punch is reached.'

He carefully read it so he didn't miss even a single word.

This contract would be a turning point in his career, whether he would stay normal and grind from the start or he would get a headstart from other new streamers, which popped up one after another, hoping to reach the top.

But if something in the contract could ruin his reputation from the start, he could also end his career here. That was why he needed to be careful.

Fortunately, there was nothing like a hidden trap written in small letters or something like that.

'The bonus isn't written here. But point 5 is interesting. My name will be posted on the Knight's Journey official page in the announcement 3 days before the event, and my Punch account link will also be posted in the description.'

After reading the contract, Max continued to read what he was forbidden to do.

'I am just forbidden from talking about it or disclosing the program until Biozone Entertainment makes an official announcement. I need to finish the Knight's Journey once before the program to get used to it. I can probably do that.'

Max was satisfied with the condition. The free game from Biozone was something he liked, as he did not have enough money to spend, and he couldn't just rely on the system. But he didn't accept it immediately since there was one confusing point.

"Excuse me, Mr. Taka. But what's this bonus written in point 4?"

"Oh, that. My apologies. It seems that I have sent a non-revised version." Mr. Taka laughed dryly, noticing his mistake.

Time was valuable, and after watching the entire VODs of Breeze's streams last night, Mr. Taka decided to change the contract slightly. He hadn't had enough sleep and became careless.

'How embarrassing.' He thought as he put up the revised version.

Max read it once more. There was nothing changed about the monetary and free game points, but the points 4 about bonus had changed slightly.

'If the peak viewers for Knight's Journey managed to pass 1 Million a week after the program, Biozone Entertainment will invite the winner of the program into the Biozone monthly segment. The appearance fee and contract will be discussed on a later day.'

His jaw dropped.

The winner would be invited to the Biozone monthly segment! This was a great honor and chance for all streamers in the world!

The monthly segment usually talked about games and Biozone Entertainment's affiliated streamers with the most growth in an interview manner. Sometimes, the interviewer also invited the guests to show off their skills in VR.

Compared to the program in Max's past life, this monthly segment was more like a monthly game show that was popular among gamers or enthusiasts.

Max was interested in this because this monthly segment always had more than 500K viewers on Punchtube, a video streaming platform.

It was great publicity. No, it was the best publicity that a newbie could hope for.

Even if there was a veteran streamer with him that would become a headlight, Max didn't mind that. As long as he could make his name remembered and create a lasting impression on the viewers, that would be a win for him.

'I need to win in the program.' He thought as his grin widened. 'I can't waste my chance to show off and spread my name.'

He raised his head and said, "I accept the offer, Mr. Taka. I am looking forward to working with you."

"Me too, Mr. Breeze." Mr. Taka smiled and shook hands with Max. "Let me call our company lawyer to finalize the contract."
