Chapter 18: Studying

Chapter 18: Studying

"Exactly one week from now, on monday, the theory tests will begin and will last three days, please make sure to review all the subjects as they count for half your grade this quarter" Ms.Lana announced as soon as the final theory class was over, thus causing a huge wave of sighs and groans. "Theory exams, huh..."

I wasn't a fan of them either, and the fact that they lasted three days and counted for 50% of the grade was terrifying.

"I wonder if the questions will be easy for me..."

"No, they'll be difficult" the elf interupted my thoughts, "after all, the academy's theory subjects are always harder than the national ones."

Thanks for the info, but I already knew.

After all, even Daemon, the protagonist who is a genius at combat, almost failed the theory tests many time because of their difficulty.

But the fact that I already read the novel gives me an immense advantage about all the info I need, the only problem is that I can't remember everything from the book...

"We'll study together later don't worry" Mina gave me a gentle smile and took my hand while heading to the cafeteria.

I don't know if it's my imagination, but after the scandal Mina's attitude had changed, she was still a tsundere but she now showed her true feelings way more then before.

It feels... refreshing.

"Let's eat a lot so that we can concentrate later"

"Alright, let's."

I didn't have anything planned this week except studying, and it was good, I had no intention of going out.

After eating the lunch, I went back to the dorm with Mina and reviewed the theory subjects we would have in the test.

And for those who wanna know, of course there is a practical exam, and it's supposed to be the next arc of the novel, but it's only happening two weeks from now so it's okay.

"Let's rest for today" Mina suddenly said while bringing juice to me.

"Tsk... maybe you're right..." studying is so boring, I feel like I could definitely slack off if the elf wasn't here to motivate me...

But then the atmosphere around us changed as she spoke again, "I-I know that we have exams and stuff, b-but do you want to hang out s-somewhere this week-end?" she was blushing and trying to hide her face, but I could see her expression completely.

"Huh..." I really didn't know, I guess it could be fun, but I also needed to atleast get an average score to be safe, also Mina always had excellent grades in the novel, so such stuff probably wouldn't affect her much...

"It's okay if you don't wanna haha... I mean..." she looked disappointed and sad.

"Sure" I responded to her request after thinking deeply, I don't really care about studying anyways.

This was how the remaining of the week passed, we would go to class and then come back to study a bit, yet I would always find myself confused by the end of the session, the entity sent me into a world where I know nothing and was expecting me to know everything, quit making me laugh.

And before I knew it, it was already saturday, the day of our date, and yes, I consider it a date even though the tsundere might refute it.

"Where are we going?" I asked her as we walked out of the school campus and into the city.

"You'll see" she winked at me and kept walking.

We reached the train station and bought a ticket, then hopped on the vehicle, and when it stopped, we were in a busy area filled with buildings.

"What's this place called?"

"Grimdol town, I found out about it after asking the staff in the hospital."

We continued walking and enjoying the view, until we suddenly stopped in front of a luxurious looking restaurant.

"Let's have lunch here."

"Are you sure? Isn't it expensive?"

"Don't worry about it"

"Alright, if you say so."

I followed her and we entered the establishment.

"Wow, this is nice" the inside was fancy, but not too much.

"Come sit" Mina invited me and we took our seat, then a waitress came and asked us what we wanted.

"Hmm... the chicken pasta please"

"The same for me, thanks."

"Thank you" the waitress bowed and left.

"Do you have enough money?"

"Yeah, my dad sends me a lot every month, so don't worry"

"Okay."

I looked outside the window and admired the beautiful cityscape, this is the first time I go somewhere else with someone and enjoy myself.

"This might not be so bad..." I thought while smiling.

The remainder of the date went just as smoothly, we went to many places and ate different types of food, and the best part of it was that it was free as Mina was paying for it all!

It wasn't much, but I felt like I and Mina got closer during that time, however short the distance had decreased.

We went back to the academy together when the sun was setting and got back to our dorms, we were both pretty tired so we scrapped the idea of studying that day.

***

And as I blinked, Sunday was already over and Monday was there.

Which meant...

"Wakey wakey~ it's theory test days!" Mina cheerfully spoke while waking me up.

"Fucking hell" I groaned while scratching my eyes and getting up.

I then ate breakfast and headed to class with Mina next to me.

As we walked in the hallways, I could see a ton of different students talk anxiously to each other, while some would have their books still in hand to study.

As for me, I can proudly say that i'm going at it by complete talent, I didn't study much so I don't really have any other option anyways.

We entered our classroom and it looked like some people were already set in their "exam" mode, me and Mina as usual sat beside each other though.

And as soon as all the students were on their seats, both Ms.Lana and Mr.Volt came inside the room.

"Everyone, quiet down" Mr.Volt, the teacher, said and the entire class turned silent, "today, the theory tests will start, and will continue tomorrow and the next day."

Mr.Lana then snapped her fingers and 4 pages of papers appeared infront of each of us, "you are not allowed to talk to each other or you will get a deduction of points, you have five hours for this test, I wish you good luck."

""Begin, now" the two teachers spoke at the same time, announcing the start of the exam.

And as I turned the papers to check the questions, fully expecting the worse, I found myself pleasantly surprised.

"Why is this so easy?" I checked every question and yet... it felt like I knew the answer of every single one of them, "what the fuck is happening?"

But I didn't have to think much for the answer to appear infront of me.
